History

I had my first flattie in 1988 from kennel Blackpicks. I had been hoping to have a dog of my own for a long time and enamoured of the flatcoats.
Blackpicks Carmen, “Mira”, moved in during the summer of 1988.

During the year 1992 and partly 1993 I did the Finnish Flatcoated Retriever journal and was a member of the FCR Society board.

When Mira was getting closer to 5, I started thinking about having another flattie.  After several phone calls I went to UK to pick up “Niki”, Fernbrae Black Beauty in 1993.

In the end of March 2002 it was Mira’s time to leave at the age of 14. Then I started to search for a new puppy and got to know Mary Grimes from kennel Belsud. After two years of waiting I finally got the lovely Ella (Belsud Port Ellen) in August 2004.

Sadly Ella had a short life that ended in November 2006.

With Mary’s and her son’s Tony’s great help, I had a new puppy Eddie (Whethold Tom Kitten) from UK in June 2007.Eddie is Belsud line.

Because Ella died so early and I was left with lovely 14 year old Niki, I decided to take the challenge of having two puppies at the same time. So, a month after Eddie, I went to Norway to pick up Flat Garden’s Alfred XV alias Alfie who came from the owner’s of Ella’s brother Belsud Famous Grouse (Kennel Flat Garden’s owners Finn Arild Thorsen & Jon André Breivik).

In the end of August 2007 Niki left us at the age of 14½.

One more addition to the gang came in December 2009 when Minnie, Trephillip Night Sky Lass moved in.

So I am a happy owner of 3 flatties now.
